Lowden Log Cabin

Set in Thornton Gore in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, this four-season log house is rustic and comfortable. It sits halfway up a grassy knoll, surrounded by open-field farm land and the White Mountain National Forest. Johnson Brook runs next to the dirt road. It has an open kitchen-dining area, a large living room with cathedral ceiling and a fieldstone fireplace.

THIS IS A NON-SMOKER HOUSE.

Four bedrooms accommodate up to five persons. Bedroom 1 has one queen bed. Bedroom 2 is a small room with a twin bed. Bedroom 3 is a loft room with a balcony overlooking the living room and has two twin beds. Bedroom 4 in the upstairs ell has one double bed and a half-bath (sink & toilet). There is an additional full bath with a tub/shower downstairs.

The house has oil hot water and base-board, hot water heat. The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, and utensils, dishes. Fireplace wood, outdoor picnic table, and a charcoal BBQ grill are furnished. Provided are bottom sheets, pillow cases, blankets, and pillows. You will need to bring towels and top sheets or a sleeping bag. The house has no television.

In the area: Swimming holes in the river, Mirror Lake, mountain hiking trails. Canoe and fish the Pemigewasset River; bike the valley. Major cross-country and downhill ski centers at Loon Mountain (eight miles), Cannon and Waterville Valley . In the summer, Loon Mountain provides archery, horseback riding, bicycle rentals, shooting range and more. The North Country Center for the Arts has a summer of exciting plays.
